Meet Jo
My name is Joanne Barton, I have been making cakes for about seven years now, my obsession with cake started back in June 2013 when I attended a cupcake course with "French born Eric Lanlard" owner of "Cake Boy Patisserie based in Battersea" creator of "Madonna, Elizabeth Hurley and Claudia Schiffer" wedding cake. I then started to make cake creations for family and friends, which then just grew and grew and before I knew it, I was probably making about 5 cakes a month + owning and running a busy childrens Day Nursery based down in Ramsgate. I then started to attend different modelling and cake technique courses, and then decided to learn professionally so I completed my "PME Professional Diploma & Masters Certificate in "Sugarpaste skills, Royal Icing and Sugar Flower techniques" which took me about a year to complete.
I have entered "Cake International" (The biggest cake competition in the world) three times and achieved "3 x Silver Awards - 3 x Bronze Awards - 1 Merit" I was also part of a large "Collaboration of 200 Top Cake Artists" from around the world, in 2019 called which was called "The Sugar Witches" where we were the main attraction for "Cake International" as we were set up in the "Great Hall" at Birmingham NEC and took over 6 months to organise.
I am currently almost at the end of my "Confectionery and Patisserie" Diploma where I have been training at "Westminster Kingsway College" in London, so I also have a good understand of "Bread Making Skills" and "Patisserie and Confectionery Skills"
I will be offering all levels of group and 1-1 classes in cake making, modelling skills, Confectionery, Patisserie and Bread making skills, I feel having attended a lot of courses myself, I understand how students can feel sometimes when learning new skills. I also feel, that I can help my students and clients solve they wedding cake and sugarcraft needs with a professional and supportive service.
